Saturdays Off the 405 at The Getty: Burger Records, Reviewed by Grace Dunn, Pow Magazine – July 23, 2016

Burger Records showcase sampling of bands on the DIY label that is dead set on the spirit of youth culture and all the freedom that follows in creative self-expression. Burger Records are known for re-issues on CD/LP/CS of well known and cult bands of decades past with the likes of Green Day to Los Saicos, as well as digging deep to discover international bands like Vaadat Charigim and cultivating local like The Audacity.

This past Saturday visitors were greeted to two stages within the main central courtyard and the other on the terrace near the gardens. Backdrop was set to an eerie red sun whilst the Sand fire in the Santa Clarita Mountains were ranging, casting an orange tint while the sun was setting. VAJJ were dressed in 80s theme prom wear making for a great freak out teen feel during their set. Gap Dream have expanded to keeping with a full band set up live from previous synth based solo shows in the recent past. Jessie Jones styling her vocal range in serene setting attracted a crowd like hummingbirds seeking out sweet nectar. The Muffs punk aggression reminded the crowd letting it out is good and a pit formed soon thereafter. The Garden’s set was cut short once security cut in to push against the crowd and grab one kid from the crowd to pick up and toss them to the side only to have one of the members dive in on top of the security and get roughed up out of solidarity.
