Gentle fingerpicked folk guitar and soothing vocals performed in the 60s / 2000s psych-folk style from the band La Nouvelle Musique. The layers of harmonizing vocals are traditional and elegant. Stripped-back acoustic guitar is beautifully played with dynamics and expression. The song has a luscious soundscape that reverberates with layers of instrumentation, including piano, keyboards and percussion. ‘Time Ticks Slowly‘ is a beautiful song from London psych-folk duo La Nouvelle Musique. 2. L.A. Witch New single ‘The Line’
L.A. Witch has released the second single, ‘The Lines‘ from the upcoming album DOGGOD. The new single takes L.A. Witches dark garage rock style with added washes of sound giving the music a shoegaze and 80s vibe. The bass has a chorus effect, building the foundation of the music and lending a 80s sound. The guitar and keyboards lay out the rhythm and drone. Sadie‘s vocals are raw and enhance the dark feel of the music. The new album is set for release on April 4th 2025, and they have scheduled a listening party with Q&A on April 2nd link is on their bandcamp page.

3. Wylderness release their sun-drenched and mesmerizing ‘Is It Summer’ single
Wylderness is a Welsh Shoegaze band with musical range on full display on the new single ‘Is It Summer‘ out March 3rd 2025. The music starts with stripped-back guitars with reverb and vibrato topped with harmonized male vocals. The song builds from mellow music to fuzzy distortion and thick layers of over-driven instrumentation. The new single follows the 2022 full-length album titled ‘Big Plans For A Blue World‘. Their music is inspired by DIIV and Sonic Youth, adding alternative styling into their mesmerizing sound.

4. deary – The Drift (Live at The Lexington)
deary are an upstart dream pop duo emerging from London. Their floating wash of glittering guitar chords and truly dreamy vocals is beautiful and lush. This latest live single ‘The Drift‘ is a song from their second EP released in 2024. deary has an uncanny ability to compose music with deep feeling that holds a sustained tension in drone-like walls of sound. 5. The New Candys new single ‘Regicide’
The new disco-shoegaze single ‘Regicide‘ from The New Candys of Venice, Italy was released in March 2025. This is the first single from the upcoming album ‘The Uncanny Extravaganza‘, out May 30th from Fuzz Club Records. The New Candys’ have changed their line-up from the previous album that includes a new guitarist and drummer. The band has taken their sound to a new place with an added disco synth element with stronger beats combined with their signature rock-oriented sound. The bass lines take charge with a fat distorted tone with moving grooves. The vocals are washy yet present and engrossing, adding interest to their exciting new music.

6. My Raining Stars Momentum Singles
My Raining Stars new album, Momentum, released in March 2025 is a modern shoegaze sound with 80s wave guitar lines and well-composed songs. They stay true to their shoegaze roots while bringing dream pop melodies. The album has excellent production with lush hypnotic sounds and is the most memorable song writing to-date by the band. Meyverlin is Thierry Haliniak‘s side project and his main band is My Raining Stars.

7. Sister Wives ‘Malady’
The Welsh band, Sister Wives‘ new single is dynamic, going from folk to heavier rock. The female vocals take on a folk-like quality with steady drums and bass and then the distorted guitars kick in unexpectedly for a fuzzy rock sound. The song has dark droning sections with stoner-doom-psych for good measure. The band describes the meaning of the song ‘Malady‘: “It’s also about how strong females frighten said bad men and historically this power is perceived as a sickness, madness or malady.” ‘Malady‘ was released on February 18th 2025 on Libertino Records.

8. KEYS Return With Irresistible New ‘What Flavour?’
The Welsh group Keys released a single with whimsy asking the bold question, ‘What flavour ice cream is that?” The music takes inspiration from the psychedelic 60s with their playful lyrics and experimental compositions. retro organs, chiming guitar lines and simple percussion place the music in the modern garage rock genre with dream pop leanings. Released on February 12th 2025 on Libertino Records.

9. Lamp of the Universe Echo In Light (Remastered)
Mystical acid-folk-rock band Lamp of the Universe from New Zealand has remastered and re-released their seminal album Echo In Light. This long out-of-print record has become a collector’s gem due to its mind-altering music and rarity. The album has elements of world music instrumentation, droning chant like quality to the music that is meditative and visionary. There is an ever-present tension in the music along with echoes and reverberations that make the music sound like it was recorded in the center of the universe.

10. Bright Like Stars New Album ‘Reflections’
Bright Like Stars released their debut album on November 29th 2024. 90’s alternative shoegaze is the musical theme with dreamy make vocals backed with fuzzy distorted spacious guitars. Hailing from Germany, musician Neil Burkdoll started Bright Like The Stars in 2023 while his band Whimsical was on a hiatus. Craig Douglas of Neonach performs and writes the vocals and lyrics. They have a dream pop sound with rocking guitar riffs and shoegaze expansiveness.

11. Fuzzing Nation’s Debut Desert Rock EP
Fuzzing Nation of Greece, released their Self-Titled debut EP in late 2024. This is fuzz-driven desert rock inspired by Kyuss with 70’s heavy stoner blues with crushing riffs and red-hot amplifiers. Hard-hitting drums and deep distorted bass blast through the speakers while the raspy vocals. This is a strong first release from the band and will build hype for their future endeavors.

12. Three Quarter Skies Superwoman / on Fire (remix)
Three Quarter Skies is the latest project from Slowdive drummer Simon Scott. The single, ‘Superwoman‘ has sprawling shoegaze atmospheres with mellow sustained vocals. The single is from the debut full-length album ‘Fade In‘, released in late 2024. Simon Scott is a well-known name in the UK music scene; his resume includes the legendary shoegaze band Slowdive, many solo albums, he has opened and closed record labels, has guest appearances and production credits on many albums including with artists deary and Tremours and now his new project Three Quarters Skies.

13. Juanita Stein ‘The Weightless Hour’
‘The Weightless Hour‘ is the new album from singer-songwriter Juanita Stien released November 2024. The album is lyrically personal, centering on guitar and voice with layers of expansive atmospheric instrumentation. The music lives in folk, alt country, freak folk movements and comparisons can be draw to Marisa Nadler, Josephine Foster and Mazzy Star. Juanita Stien is Australian and is the lead vocalist and guitarist in the band Howling Bells. ‘The Weightless Hour‘ is her third solo album.

14. Pink Breath of Heaven single release to their new album “Look Inside”
San Francisco’s Pink Breath of Heaven released a new single, ‘Look Inside‘ on January 2025. They masterfully blend layers of sustained drones and fuzzed rock with dreamy vocals. The instruments create an abstract wash of beautifully blended guitar and distorted effects that breath and oscillate. Liv Field‘s vocals are airy with sustained notes with an aura of rocking style. The expressiveness of Field’s voice is front and center backed by a undulating wall of sound. This new band has released several singles in the last year, each one more enticing than the last.

15. Tal Rasha
Tal Rasha‘s electrifying 70s rock takes flight in technicolor with blues and classic rock. They belt out Robert Plant inspired vocals preformed by Bay Area native Joshua Cook. This exciting new band has toured Europe and currently rehearses in Paris. Taj Rasha released their debut Self-Titled EP at the end of 2024 on streaming and limited edition vinyl. Their first single, ‘Gypsy Eyes Take Me There‘ embodies the energy of the 60s British rock invasion with tight rhythm and blues through cranked amps backing strong lead vocals.

16. Chapterhouse EP Momentum Singles?
Chapterhouse has a new album, White House Demos, packed with their unreleased early demos. These songs were not included in the recent boxset that included music from their entire career. Slowdive guitarist Christian Savill brought it to the band’s attention that the demos were not included in the boxset. This demo material represented some of Savaill‘s favorite songs from Chapterhouse due to their rocking sound. The upcoming White House Demos album is slated for release on May 11th 2025. These demos are closest to the band’s famed live performances from the early 1990s. The music is high energy with driving energy.
17. Night Beats ‘Behind The Green Door’
Behind Green Door is the latest single from Night Beats released March 12th 2025. Night Beats has a retro psychedelic R&B sound. This track incorporates a Reggae feel with the upbeat staccato guitar rhythm with drippy reverb and slap back delay. The vocals of band leader Danny Lee Blackwell come through clearly, backed by his personalized style of guitar. Behind The Green Door is being released April 11th on 7″ vinyl single from Fuzz Club and Suicide Squeeze Records.

18. Pink Breath of Heaven – Blue Is The Morning
Pink Breath of Heaven is a cult favorite here at Pow Magazine and on March 12th 2025 they released the music video for ‘Blue Is The Morning‘. Shot on 16mm film by videographer Curtis Austin. Pink Breath of Heaven submerges the listener in a pool of atmospheric rock that radiates a warm sound. The echoing guitars with lush chorus effects splash against droning keyboards, swirling oscillations and stellar vocals. The band is based in San Francisco, California and this latest single is from the upcoming album Colors Make a Sound, to be released May 2nd 2025.
