Trip Inside Me are a Ukrainian psychedelic band comprised of Iana Ielysheva on vocals, keyboards, and bass. While Nick Odintsov covers guitars and an additional bass. The two met on opposite sides of the Ukraine and have tripped into and out of each other musically while experimenting with a cluster of sounds to complete their first album Open One of the Doors. So open your eyes to an artificial world that doesn’t have a beginning or end. You can visit it as you please. It doesn’t speed up or slow down so motion sickness won’t be a problem.
I put this album on after a long workday. My entire house was asleep. My girlfriend had been dreaming for hours. All lights had been turned off for quite some time. I sat down with my headphones on and began the first track “The Goldfish” and I closed my eyes. I drifted between the two conscientiousnesses and let the song take over me. The ethereal atmosphere engulfs you entirely. It isn’t with any sort of force, either. But, rather, the music seduces you with its somberness. Each track has such a dreamlike nature that I found myself reliving past experiences. Have you ever gone to another town with a group of friends to see their shops? See what kind of buildings that have. Do they have creepy dolls inside of stores that have been closed for years collecting dust. You buy a bag of weed with curled strands of purple coming off each bud from a reliable source you heard about from the coffee shop. You smoke it and wonder to find a graveyard. You see ghosts drifting in and out of sight. And all of these memories have returned to me with the song “Girl of my Fantasy”. That idea of perfection we have in our heads. That idea that we’ll always chase. It’s never entirely gone. And I thank lana and Nick for reminding me of that.
Don’t take the individual songs in. This is an albums meant to be enjoyed from start to finish. Everything fits beautifully. So relive past memories with something new.
