    Helicon-“Helicon”(Self Titled)

And like an ancient painting the sun peaks through the high aired fog. We collectively stare off into the culmination of work no one ever had any intention of admiration. Each one of us must follow a path. Whether it be by our decision or another we follow. The idea that we’re in front is false. Helicon takes on the dark abyss of nothingness with their self titled debut. Droning guitars with almost take on a wave like nature pummeled into your psyche masquerade themselves until they permeate your existence. Beginning with “Devil On Your Tongue” I notice each one of their instruments perfectly falls into your head until its…

Day1. Aquaserge The Telescopes Songhoy blues The KVB Tom and I departed from the gray and dreary atmosphere of Manchester that carried with it the apprehension we held in tight in our lungs corked breath, Eagerly awaiting our arrival to the eponymous Liverpool psyche fest. Vast Asteroid take the riffs written from stoner gods and inhabit my current mind. Mix it with Brit pop and shoegaze sensibilities and song structure delivered from all the cheeky and mesmerizing musicians that formed my youth. And shoot that into the stars with a nice little splash of space rock. Super groups sometimes get a bad rep. That they’re nothing but an aging group of musicians trying for another shot at glory. But, look at Wake The Dead. Look at Them Crooked Vultures. And now, Vast Asteroid are here to fill a void you may have never even known you had. Mimi Star, formerly of The Warlocks, takes bass…

    The Lumes-Envy

The Jesus Lizard and Metz are fused together in the form of The Lumes. The Lumes are Maxime Prins on vocals and guitar, Lennard van der Voort on bass and Mitchell Quitz on drums. Their first release Lust started this tradition they seem to be continuing on with “Envy”. Sin is said to be something we’re supposed to avoid. The Lumes, instead, dive headfirst into the depraved world we all want but are forced to avoid for fear of judgement from either the outside or upon ourselves. “Anguish” takes off like a sonic tonic. The manic vocals of Maxime are desperate. “Am I the only one, who knows what it…
