Residing in Milan, Italy, this neo-psych band is back with a new release on Tidal Wave Records. A spacey, instrumental, electronic, pulsed opener sets the vibe leading up to the first song, “Bow of Gold”. The shimmering of guitars and octave bass line now kicks in, taking us on a cosmic ride. Reverberated vocals gloss over the prevailing musical landscape as a blend of clean, pristine Fender guitars are mixed in over a wash of sound pulsating into tremolo waves.
“Tenuous Form” has a grungy, thick baseline that drives the entire track with ethereal guitar and synth sounds, enveloping the lyrics in an abstract echo followed by a big, washed-out, heavenly chorus. The songs are all long enough to lose yourself in the vibes created.
“Distant Glows” is more of an ominous-sounding song with delayed vocals that change up the energy of the album halfway. Some retro organ lines give the feel of an abandoned or haunted landscape before some distorted guitar kicks in with a nice, face-melting solo at the end.
“Indeterminate” gives us a Motorik-style track with dance vibes in this part of the album. Drone, mantra-like vocals with vocoder act as more of a rhythm instrument rather than a traditional vocal here. We are now blasting off through the void at an undetermined speed, taking us farther as the layers of chaos are piled on. Each verse gets more complex aspects of sound added as the song pulses onward, leading to a climax.
We are once again enveloped in a wall of sublime, distorted sound opening like the unfolding of a flower.
“The Fall” is anchored by a dark, heavy western-style riff with dynamic shifts throughout the track, with more reverberated vocals in the mix. Amazing drum fills make this song an epic, penultimate song on the album.
“Endless Mourn” is a spaghetti western-style psych song that closes the album, giving a cinematic quality to the final track and letting it all break loose. Overall, this is a great album from one of Italy’s best dreamgaze/psych bands.
